MI-2097 Automated Microwave Measurement
SystemsMI Technologies' MI-2097 Automated
Microwave Measurement Systems (AMMS) offer the user an extensive
array of features and options that provide solutions for the
most demanding measurement requirements. The MI-2097 family of
systems allow users to fully automate the antenna measurement
process from setup to analysis and reports.
Measurement
Applications: More Choices and Solutions
The MI-2097 family offers a full menu of measurement
applications, providing the user with a selection of both
far-field and near-field applications. Specialty and custom
applications for radome, RCS, component and wireless
applications are also available. Custom features, required for
specialized testing, can be evaluated by our applications and
system engineering resources to assist buyers in identification
of the right solution. The MI-2097 is delivered with acquisition
and analysis applications installed. Optional analysis
applications include:
- Planar Near-Field
- Spherical Near-Field
- Cylindrical Near-Field
- Radome
- Radar Cross Section
- Component S-Parameter
- Individual
Applications such as EIRP and Antenna VSWR
Increased Speed and Productivity
Productivity improvement solutions are more important in today's
business than ever before. The ability to take 10,000 quality
measurements per second can provide tremendous productivity gains.
From production testing to engineering design, the MI-2097 will
provide the results-oriented test and measurement solutions needed
to test the products we use today and those we are designing for
tomorrow.
At up to
10,000 measurements per
second of Phase and Amplitude data with 90dB of dynamic range in CW mode, the MI-2097 is one of the fastest measurement systems
available today. The AMMS features an integrated MI-1797 Receiver
configured to optimize speed & performance at the system
level. A high-speed secondary data line provides the capability to
move vast amounts of measurement data from the receiver
instruments to the workstation without interfering in system
control functions. This compares with approximately 100 equivalent
measurements per second across a GPIB based interface.
Multi-Frequency
The MI-1797 receiver subsystem supports automated multi-frequency
measurement scenarios. Up to 1,024 different frequencies can be
acquired at each measurement interval. Typically, frequency
changes can be accomplished at a rate near 1,000 steps per second
with the MI-3100 Series Signal Sources.
Multi-Port Measurements
A full line of MI-3320 Series Multiplexers provide for up to 16
ports in various combinations for receive and transmit lines.
Switching times for the Multiplexers do not degrade the
measurement speed of the receiver. The MI-2097
also supports up to 16 bits of general purpose switch/beam
steering computer control.
Multi-Axis Control
The base MI-2097 includes a MI-4192 multi-axis position controller and
power amplifier set. The controller can sequentially operate up to
four positioner axes. The MI-2097 application software is
expansion ready for up to two additional position controllers and
can manage up to 16 axes of motion with options.
Easy Acquisition and Analysis
The MI-2097 is delivered with extensive acquisition and analysis
capability. The MI-3001 Data Acquisition and Analysis Workstation
is the user interface to all functions of the measurement system.
The MI-3001 utilizes graphical
screens and drop-down menus covering installation, equipment
selection, and instrument configurations for the receiver, signal
source, and positioning axes. The user is guided on setting up
acquisitions and creating data files as well as editing
acquisition parameters. Screens for data, motion, frequency,
confirmation plots and others are provided.
The Plot mode provides the user
interface for operating the plot definition editor for plotting
data in rectangular, polar, contour and isometric formats.
A Sequencer Module enables the
operator to create script files, containing operational
instructions for performing full acquisitions
and analysis scenarios. Scripts can be
saved, edited and rerun at the operator's discretion.
Optional software packages are
available for near-field analyses of planar, spherical and
cylindrical configurations. Radome and RCS applications are also
available, along with individual analyses such
as EIRP.
Supports MI Technologies'
Positioners and Scanners
MI Technologies manufactures a full line of rotary and linear
positioning products, specifically developed for the demands of
antenna measurement functions. These positioners can also be used
in other applications as well as for Antenna Measurement. The
MI-2097 systems are a perfect match for all these positioning
devices. There is an MI Technologies positioner suitable for use
with virtually every measurement application and configuration.
Positioner capacities up to 400,000 pounds vertical load provide
an extensive range of capabilities for these applications.
Precision planar scanners with
linear motor drives as well as belt and gear drive versions
provide a large selection opportunity for user applications.
Also, a wide range of positioners
and scanners previously manufactured by MI Technologies or
Scientific-Atlanta are supported by the MI-2097 systems. Interface
adapters have been developed which can provide interfaces to
existing positioners as well as the existing cabling.
