ATMS – The Antenna Test and Measurement Society enjoyed a larger attendance just recently. The Conference was held the 10th and 11th of February 2011 in Ahmedabad, India. MI Technologies participated with an invited talk, a presentation, session chair and exhibit.

Steve Nichols, of MI Technologies, presented Filtering Interference for Antenna Measurements which he co-authored with Roger Dygert of MI Technologies. Steve chaired the session in which he presented.

As his invited talk, Steve Nichols provided a walk through Advanced Antenna Measurement Architectures which brought the attendees through the days of the early pattern recorders that were developed for far-field measurements to today’s technology with systems that maximize acquisition speed in antenna measurements.

Technical Paper
Presented at AMTA 2011 in India
FILTERING INTERFERENCE FOR ANTENNA MEASUREMENTS

When making measurements on an outdoor range, susceptibility to electromagnetic interference is a common problem. In a dense spectral environment, television and radio broadcast signals, radars, and various communications systems emit signals that can be received by antenna measurement instrumentation. When these combine with the signal from the range transmit signal source at the receive antenna, measurement errors result. This paper illustrates that by choosing a sensitive receiver with high selectivity filtering, measurements can be made in the same band as the interferer.

Presented and authored by Steve Nichols of MI Technologies with kind regards to his co-author, Roger Dygert, also, of MI Technologies.
