offers a line of high accuracy, high stiffness, and zero backlash,
two-axis gimbals for use in a variety of applications.
The new, advanced line of gimbal
products use direct-drive motors directly mounted to the rotating gimbal
elements to eliminate the usual causes of drive train compliance and to
achieve zero backlash. The optical encoders are directly mounted on the
same rotating gimbal element as its associated motor; no flexible
coupling is used. Positioning error due to windup of the structure and
drive train is very small.
