Description

MI Technologies is pleased to offer the MI-6850 family of Spherical Arch Scanners for spherical near-field antenna measurements.

This accurate scanner supports spherical near-field testing on antennas up to 10 meters in diameter and weighing up to 25,000 Kilograms.

The MI-6850, combined with the speed and flexibility of the MI-2097 Automated Microwave Measurement System (AMMS) and TICRA SNIFTD (Spherical Near-Field to Far-Field Transformation) software, provides a measurement system capable of handling a wide range of antennas from .1 GHz to 140 GHz.

When combined with an azimuth positioner, the MI-6850 delivers spherical near-field testing of antennas on an unprecedented scale of accuracy and efficiency.

Spherical scanning is accomplished by rotating the Antenna Under Testing (AUT) on an azimuth positioner while elevation scans are accomplished using a near-field probe mounted on the arch carriage. Phase and amplitude data is collected as the AUT rotates.

When using the MI-2097 AMMS, multiple polarizations, channels and frequencies can be collected as the AUT rotates.

The MI-6850 Arch Design

MI Technologies' MI-6850 Arch consists of a structural truss tower, structural box beam segments, precision arc segments, a motorized carriage, and an optional motorized 2-axis probe adjustment stage.

The overall design approach delivers an arch with greater stiffness, more precise motion and lower cost by separating the production of its structural support from production of its precision motion components.

This allows the structural support components to be fabricated from large, heavy steel sections without the need for precision surfaces that would make these components prohibitively expensive.

The precision guideways are then fabricated from flat steel plate using the best machine tools available.

The result is an economical test structure that can provide the most accurate spherical near-field test and measurements for a wide range of antennas.
