Thomas B. Darling was appointed Vice President, Customer Support in November of 2004, based on a company reorganization reuniting the operations and business office portions of this organization into a single business unit. In this role, Tom is responsible for all of our Customer Support activities, including field service support of our many customers world wide, as well as managing our antenna and radome testing services business. In addition to providing traditional repair and calibration services, this group also provides customer test facility probing, characterization and relocation services, range equipment refurbishments and supports new system upgrades and installations.

Tom was previously the Vice President of Operations at MI Technologies.  He was named to the post in 1998, one year after the Company was formed by acquiring the assets of Scientific-Atlanta Inc.’s microwave instrumentation business.  In this role he was responsible for all of our manufacturing and facilities activities, as well as company programs for quality, safety, product regulatory compliance, configuration management and process development.

Tom has been professionally associated with engineered products companies for over twenty five years. His management career includes various assignments in Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Marketing, and Customer Service with Nordson Corporation, BTG Inc, Nimslo 3 D, Alcan Aluminum and Kemet Electronics. At Nordson, a manufacturer of industrial application equipment, he held manufacturing management positions as Factory Manager for three different business groups. He served as Vice President of Marketing and Vice President of Operations with BTG, a manufacturer of specialized industrial instrumentation, high pressure steam valves and coating equipment for the paper making and converting industries. In various supervisory technical positions, Tom provided technical support in manufacturing for innovative 3D photographic systems for Nimslo, provided manufacturing facility support for Alcan as Plant Engineer and supported high volume electronic component manufacturing at Kemet Electronics.

Tom has been an active supporter of  community service organizations. This includes fund raising efforts at MI technologies for the Red Cross (in support of 2005 hurricane victims) and for Project Read, serving as Board Member from 1995-1997 and as Annual Fund Chairman in 1997. A non profit organization local to Atlanta, Project Read provides literacy training for disadvantaged adults.

Tom holds a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and has routinely bolstered his background with additional training courses throughout his career involving specific technical topics, product regulatory compliance, safety, modern manufacturing methods and various quality systems.
