Applications Engineer - Current Opening

Applications Engineer:

MI Technologies offers a wide range of microwave test solutions to meet our customer’s needs.  This includes Microwave Test Systems for Radar Cross Section, Far-Field, Near-Field, and Compact Range Antenna test facilities for a diverse group of commercial, government/military, university and international customers.

Job Description:

The Applications Engineer plays an essential role in the process of understanding the customer’s needs, translating them into requirements and formulating affordable solutions.  The Applications Engineer’s activity is directed to the customer by MI’s Marketing and Sales organization. The Applications Engineer works closely with the Customer and MI’s Program Office and Engineering Staff to create the solution with the best value for the customer. 

The Applications Engineer needs to have capabilities across technical, marketing and business areas. This particular position requires strong analytical skills to analyze complex technical systems. The candidate should have 10+ years of significant experience with proposals, customer interaction, and systems design and analysis.

A strong background in Microwave Antenna design is preferred.  Additional desired background experience would include; RF System Design, Microwave Component Selection and Specification, Microwave Communications, and Hands-on Experience using a variety of Antenna Test Ranges, and knowledge of mechanical positioning systems.

Familiarity with MATLAB, GRASP, HFSS and other industry analytical tools considered a plus. The candidate should have a strong aptitude for problem solving and have excellent written and verbal communication skills. The candidate must be able to team with other MI functions such as Sales, Marketing, Program Office, Service, Operations and Engineering to develop solutions for the customer consistent with MI’s business goals.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering or Physics with 10+ years experience. MBA a plus.

Systems Integration Engineer - Current Opening

The Systems Integration Engineer should have 10+ years of experience with a track record of progressively increasing responsibilities. The candidate should have the capability to lead the technical development of Automated Microwave Measurement Systems, including systems for testing antennas and radomes.  This includes analyzing complex system requirements, allocating design requirements to subsystems, performing RF analysis, leading integration and acceptance testing, and working with customers to meet contract requirements.

A strong RF/Microwave background is required that includes expertise in one or more of the following areas:  Antenna design, RF System Design, Microwave Component Selection and Specification, and/or hands-on experience using a variety of Antenna Test Ranges.

Typical design tasks include selecting the proper configuration of equipment to meet the measurement requirements, developing system block diagrams and cabling diagrams, selecting RF cables and control cables, analyzing RF system requirements, developing factory and site test procedures, and creating a system instruction manual.  In addition, some projects require custom RF subsystem design using connectorized RF/Microwave components such as amplifiers, couplers, mixers, equalizers, and similar devices.

The Systems Integration Engineer is also responsible for performing Factory Integration Testing of the measurement system, including configuration, functional tests, and troubleshooting of the entire RF system, the position control and positioning system, and the data acquisition system.  After managing the packing and shipping process, the Systems Integration Engineer travels to the customer site to install, test, troubleshoot, and sell off the system to the customer. The on-sight

activity typically includes training the customer on the equipment and how to make various types of antenna measurements.

The candidate should have a strong aptitude for problem solving with good organizational and documentation skills. The candidate must be a team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a willingness to mentor junior team members.

  • Availability for travel to perform onsite installations (up to 25%)

Lead Systems Engineer- Current Opening

Primary Responsibilities & Activities

Lead Engineers with extensive project experience in highly technical systems.  

Job Description:

The persons filling these positions must have the ability to take diverse specifications in RF/Microwave measurements along with a detailed understanding of mechanical design processes to bring the strength of the Company together to deliver complex products to our customers.  These are lead systems engineering positions that require approximately ten years of experience in design and systems engineering processes.  The successful candidates will be required to manage teams of multi-disciplined engineers in a consolidated effort to successfully deliver system products.  The systems being designed are for microwave measurement of various test items such as antennas and radomes being used in radar, communications (both wireless and satellite), satellite data transfers, and other applications.  The major contributors to the products have specialties in microwave, mechanical and electrical engineering. 

Requirements:

  • The candidates should have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in electrical or mechanical engineering with supporting experience. 

  • Skills in systems engineering processes are highly desired.

Planner- Current Opening

Job Description:

MI Technologies is looking for a Planner to support Program Management within the Manufacturing Organization. The Planner will be the key Manufacturing person responsible for different programs, as related to content, schedule, engineering release status, etc.. The Planner will have ownership responsibilities for all Manufacturing activities including scheduling of work through the factory and work order releases. Additionally, the Planner will work with Program/proposal teams to assist in developing cost estimates. The Planner will be expected to be fully knowledgeable of all material and manufacturing related issues, including schedule for each program assigned. The Planner will be responsible for the communication process with Manufacturing, Program Management, and Engineering on each program assigned. In addition to program responsibilities, the planner will be expected to release workorders to the shop floor, expedite material, coordinate production schedules, and generate and prepare scheduling and planning reports. Additional responsibilities include ECO implementation, scheduling of Sales Orders, and attending various meetings, including Program reviews.

 Requirements:

Candidates must have 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with thorough knowledge of MRP systems, understanding of business operating systems, proven ability to meet deadlines and a Bachelor’s degree (Engineering degree preferred). Candidate must have experience in a low volume, custom environment with a high product mix and possess the ability to read engineering drawings. Candidate must be proficient in MS Office software (Word, Excel) and Project. Proficiency in MS Access is preferred.

Senior Systems Engineer/Antenna Design (2):

Job Description:

The Senior Systems Engineer candidate should have a strong analytical background along with verifiable practical experience in the RF and antenna industry. Antenna design experience is preferred. This position's responsibilities include concept development and system design, RF performance modeling, technical guidance to senior management, technical mentoring, establishing and tracking schedules/ budgets/ risks, interfacing with customers and contractors for major systems and components, developing proposals, preparing customer presentations and supporting strategic planning and programs targeted for future capture. This challenging role is to work within a multi-disciplinary engineering team environment to develop and deliver microwave, radar and antenna test and measurement systems spanning both near-field and far-field technologies.

Qualified candidates will hold a BSEE (MSEE or PhD. preferred), have 10 years of experience in a systems environment, U.S. Citizen capable of obtaining security clearance and a strong foundation in antenna, RF and electronic system design.
