MI Technologies Selected by the University of Salerno (Italy) to Provide a State-of-the-Art Cylindrical Near-Field Antenna Test and Measurement System

ATLANTA: MI Technologies announced today it has been selected by the University of Salerno (Fisciano, Italy), to supply and commission a state-of-the-art antenna measurement, acquisition, and analysis system for an existing anechoic chamber located on the University campus.

MI Technologies’ automated test and measurement systems are used by customers in communications and commercial markets around the world to evaluate wireless and satellite communication systems, telematics antennas, radomes, radar cross section (RCS) and microwave component characteristics.

Under terms of the contract, MI Technologies will install a cylindrical near-field test facility that will feature the MI-3000 Acquisition and Analysis Software. The system will be used to validate existing transform algorithms for optimizing the amount of time taken to acquire near-field data using spiral techniques.

Dr Carlo Rizzo, European Operations Manager for MI Technologies, said, “We have just recently signed a formal agreement with the Department of Electronics, University of Salerno, which will allow us to share new algorithms intended to drastically reduce acquisition time for near-field data in all three geometries (planar, cylindrical and spherical). The University of Salerno has an impeccable track record concerning the development of new near-field techniques for antenna measurement applications.”

MI Technologies, along with its local sales and authorized service center, Mediterranean Technologies (Rome, Italy), will install the system and perform the acceptance test.

MI Technologies, headquartered in Suwanee, Georgia, delivers engineering solutions and advanced products, systems, and software to address a wide range of technical applications where precise measurement, control or data acquisition is required. For more than 50 years, the business has been a leading supplier of products, systems and services for RF and Microwave antenna, radome, and radar cross section (RCS) testing. MI Technologies’ test, measurement and precision motion control products are used in research, development, monitoring and manufacturing processes worldwide.
