MI Technologies Appoints Jimmy Wong Director, Asia Operations
ATLANTA: MI Technologies has appointed Jimmy Wong as Director, Asia Operations, the company announced.
In this new position, Mr. Wong will be responsible for all of MI Technologies’ sales activities in Asia and the Pacific Rim, including the solicitation of orders, maintaining customer relationships and coordination of sales representatives and distributors. He will oversee the Company’s Asian manufacturer representatives and coordinate MI Technologies’ product installations, customer training and support. Mr. Wong will maintain an office in Singapore and report to Michael Kujawa, Vice President of Sales for MI Technologies.
In making the announcement, Kujawa said, “We are very pleased to bring Jimmy on board to take on this new responsibility for MI Technologies. The creation of a local Sales and Customer Support location within Asia reflects our growing business in the region and our commitment to offer local support to our Asian customers. Jimmy’s technical and professional business experience will help us work more effectively with our Asian customers and help us build more productive customer relationships.”
Mr. Wong comes to MI Technologies with more than 20-years experience in Communications and RF/Microwave industries. His business experience encompasses research and development, engineering, project management, sales and marketing and business development.
Mr. Wong began his career in 1982 as a member of the technical staff at AT&T Bell Laboratories in New Jersey, designing wireless terminals and switches. He later joined Hazeltine Corp. in Long Island, New York, where he worked on military radios and other communications and navigational systems.
In 1988, he moved to Singapore and joined Singapore Technologies, where he held a variety of senior management positions including supervision of a research and development department and the management of the project and system sales activities in the Communication Division.
In 1992, Jimmy was appointed Director for the Communication Division of Sembanwang Corp, a billion-dollar conglomerate in Singapore, where he spear-headed the formation of consortia to bid for regional fixed line and mobile telecommunication operating licenses in Singapore, China and Indonesia.
In 1996, Jimmy joined Marconi Instruments as the Asia Pacific regional Director of Operations responsible for all test and measurement operational and sales activities. He joined Gigatronics in 2001 to help that company develop sales networks in Asia Pacific.
Jimmy holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering with high honors from the State University of New York and a Master of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University.
