MI Technologies Expands Wireless Test Systems
Capabilities with Bluetest Partnership
ATLANTA: MI Technologies has signed a distribution agreement with Bluetest AB
of Gothenburg, Sweden, to distribute and support Bluetest's products in North
America, Italy, United Kingdom and India. This agreement broadens MI
Technologies' test and measurement capabilities for the Wireless marketplace and
strengthens Bluetest's sales and support channels for its innovative line of
reverberation technology-based products for characterizing communication devices
with small antennas.
The Bluetest reverberation chamber technology is used to measure the total RF performance of cell phones and other wireless devices. In the past two years the sales of the Bluetest products have accelerated and in a few years we believe most companies working with products using small antennas will use this technology. The capabilities offered by this technology include extremely fast measurement of Total Radiated Power (TRP) and Total Isotropic Sensitivity (TIS). Additionally, the Bluetest chambers are the only commercially available test chambers that allow direct testing of antenna diversity gain and MIMO capacity, both of which are key technologies for new (e.g. HSPA, 802.11n) and future (WiMAX, LTE) wireless broadband systems. All of this capability is bundled into a very compact, cost effective, and easy to use system.
"North America is a very important market for Bluetest," said Mats Andersson, CEO of Bluetest AB. "Many of the world's leading wireless companies have their headquarters and/or development centers in North-America. Bluetest is very happy to add MI Technologies, well known worldwide for its high quality and cost effective test and measurement products, to its list of distributors."
MI Technologies has for over 50 years delivered advanced antenna test technology to the communication industry, the addition of the Bluetest products to its offerings provides MI Technologies the ability to offer a complete suite of test systems to characterize antenna pattern performance as well as antenna efficiency measurements and throughput measurements.
"MI Technologies is the leading supplier of advanced test systems for all types of antennas, and the speed and accuracy of the Bluetest solution will offer extraordinary value to our customers. With the revolutionary products from Bluetest we will be able to supply the latest test technology for evaluation of all wireless products." said Jeff Fordham, Vice President, Marketing, of MI Technologies.
"With this new partnership, we will be able to offer a complete reverberation chamber system. These new products add the capability to our existing product lines to offer rapid characterization of TRP and TIS for cell phone testing and the only commercially available test chamber for direct measurements of antenna diversity gain and MIMO capacity for other wireless devices."
About MI Technologies:
MI Technologies (www.mi-technologies.com),
headquartered in Suwanee, Georgia, delivers engineering solutions and advanced
products, systems, and software to address a wide range of technical
applications where precise measurement, control or data acquisition is required.
For more than 50 years, the business has been a leading supplier of products,
systems and services for RF and Microwave antenna, radome, and radar cross
section (RCS) testing. MI Technologies' test, measurement and precision motion
control products are used in research, development, monitoring and manufacturing
processes worldwide.
About Bluetest:
"Bluetest (www.bluetest.se), headquartered
in Gothenburg, Sweden, provides reverberation chambers and software, for fast
and cost effective development and evaluation of wireless products using small
antennas. Measurements can be performed up to ten times faster and with similar
or better accuracy than in anechoic chambers. The cost and space of a Bluetest
chamber compared to an anechoic chamber is much smaller. For terminals with
multiple antennas the reverberation chamber is the only instrument to directly
measure antenna diversity gain and MIMO capacity. Bluetest's main customers are
mobile phone manufacturers, developers of small antennas, operators, test
institutes and universities. However, all companies working with wireless
devices, e.g RFID, Bluetooth modules, WLAN, wireless sensors, etc., will be able
to speed up their development time and improve the performance of their products
using a Bluetest chamber."
