Boeing's DART Facility Generates High Praise
MI Technologies received special recognition from the Boeing Company's Huntington Beach, California unit for on-time, on budget completion of specialized measurement equipment and a compact range reflector for their Dynamic Advanced Radar Test (DART) facility.
According to Debra Rub-Zenko, Weapons Programs Vice President for Boeing, the DART facility is a one-stop, full-service test range dedicated to support design, development and qualification testing of Boeing's most sophisticated radar-based weapons before taking them to the field where testing can be very costly. "This facility is unquestionably a leap forward in our ability to meet the rapidly expanding requirements surrounding test and production of increasingly complex weapon systems," she said.
MI Technologies played a major role in creating this facility. The company
supplied a special spatial target array solution with a unique feed system and a
compact range reflector.
The $10 million center will immediately be put to use on testing the guidance
and navigation radar systems for missiles like the PAC-3, the next-generation
patriot missile system widely recognized for its defensive role in the Iraq war.
In a commendation message to MI Technologies, Bill Richardson, executive lead
for DART at Boeing Huntington Beach, said, "We would not have been successful
without our concerted and dedicated efforts to deliver your subsystems on time
and on budget."
